I am going to do what the person did before me and word journal. I’m sitting on this bench and I see some ferns to my left starting to come up so I think I will journal on the word fern. When I think of ferns it definitely takes me back to my childhood I lived in the country and we would pick the ferns that were full grown and probably almost as tall as my waist at the time because I was small and start at the bottom and just squeeze the stem and let your fingers go all the way up the stem and all the leaves on the stem would fall off we did that a lot. But as an adult the word fern means something different I can remember a few years back being somewhere and people would actually eat the spindles I want to call them of the fern before they actually grew. Not sure if that’s true but that’s what they did . And I always think about ferns as being kind of not the center of attention but more like a little bit extra that makes someone or something look good. So think about if you get a flower arrangement you’ve got roses and daisies and carnations and hydrangeas and all kinds of beautiful flowers and there’s usually a fern or two in the mix almost just to complement how beautiful the flowers are. Makes me think about myself. I think I am more of a complementer to people then the center of attention.
That probably goes way back to my childhood in teenage years when I didn’t really feel that confident and outgoing. And it’s just easier to kind of stay in the background. Well I’m pretty amazed at how the word fern came full circle to me. Thank you for this bench and the idea❤️
