  >  Virtual Journal Entry: Peace
·

I graduated from Mis about 20 years ago, and I come back frequently to walk or sit in the garden. When I’m feeling especially stressed or hopeless or anxious, I start by sitting in the chapel for a bit. I’m not overly religious, and I only attended one mass there, but there’s a peace that comes from just sitting there that’s hard to explain.

I’m in the garden now and it’s going to storm; rain is trying to fall, but I’m content on this bench. Students are taking the newbies around for orientation in small groups, and I remember being one of those newbies, and my classes with Dr. Becky, and the culture and beauty this place has brought to my life. I’m extremely grateful for this space. I hope whoever is reading this finds the same calm that it brings me.

Thank you for spending time with The Bench Project. When you share your bench moment with our community, you may never know the impact or inspiration of your words, feelings and story on the next reader, but it still feels good... to leave it at the bench.
